Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are in its concluding phase, with the seventh phase of voting scheduled for
June 1, 2024. Voting for 57 seats in 8 states/UTs will occur during this final phase. A total of 904
candidates are slated to contest for 57 Lok Sabha constituencies, which includes 8 seats in Bihar, 1
seat in Chandigarh, 4 seats in Himachal Pradesh, 3 seats in Jharkhand, 6 seats in Odisha, 13 seats
each in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, and 9 seats in West Bengal. Polling will take place across all the
seats of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab in the seventh phase.
General elections to the 18th Lok Sabha commenced in India from April 19 and will be concluded on
June 1, 2024, over seven phases, to elect all 543 members of the Lok Sabha. With the completion of
the 6th phase of polling on May 25, 2024, voters have exercised their right to vote for 486 seats out
of 543 seats in the first six phases of the elections. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has
reported a voter turnout of 63.37% in the 6th phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The first
four phases of elections saw high voter turnout, which reduced in the 5th and 6th phases.
Approximately 65.54% voter turnout was recorded for the first six phases of the election. The voter
turnout for the Lok Sabha polls was approximately 67.4% in 2019 and 65.95% in 2014 across 543
constituencies. Admirably the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections boasts a record voter turnout of
approximately 58.5% at Jammu and Kashmir.
The Election Commission has released details of the phase-wise voter turnout –
- 19 th April 2024 – Phase 1 covering 102 constituencies across 21 States – 66.14%
- 26th April 2024 – Phase 2 covering 88 constituencies across 13 States – 66.71%
- 7th May’2024 – Phase 3 covering 94 constituencies across 11 States – 65.68%
- 13th May’2024 – Phase 4 covering 96 constituencies across 10 States – 69.16%
- 20th May’2024 – Phase 5 covering 49 constituencies across 8 States – 62.2%
- 25th May’2024 – Phase 6 covering 58 constituencies across 8 States – 63.37%

The counting of votes will take place on June 4, 2024. The final official results will be announced by
the Election Commission of India either on late night of 4 th June’24 or on the morning of 5 th June’24.
