Chasing 135, South Africa reached the target in 17.2 overs courtesy of Anneke Bosch’s blitzkrieg knock of 74 runs from 48 balls. Her innings comprised eight fours and a six. For Australia, Annabel Sutherland scalped two wickets. Batting first, Australia posted 134/5 in 20 overs. Wicket Keeper Batter, Beth Mooney scored 44 runs out of 42 deliveries. Ellsye Perry, Tahlia McGrath and Phoebe Litchfield played key knocks of 31,27 and 16 respectively. For South Africa, Ayabhonga Khaka took two wickets.

Australian skipper Tahlia Mcgrath said, “This defeat is a hard thing to take, and they are shocked.” However, she credited South Africa with having played better cricket. She attributed this loss to not playing well in this game rather than a lack of preparation. The winning skipper, Laura Wolvaardt highlighted this win as probably one of the best wins. She praised her team’s bowling performance which restricted Australia to a below-par total. She appreciated her team’s collective effort and thanked the support staff who helped in analyzing Australia’s weaknesses.
A few months ago, the South African men’s team reached the finals and lost to India. All eyes will be on the South African eves to create history and help the nation become the first-ever World Cup winner.
The next semi-final encounter will be between New Zealand and West Indies in Dubai. The match is set to begin at 2.00 PM GMT. All eyes are on the ICC World Cup 2024 Finals.
