Elon Musk’s Grok is set to be launched as a standalone application in December 2024.

Elon Musk’s xAI, with its launch of Grok’s standalone application, aims to compete with already established AI chatbots such as Open AI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. Users can only use GROK through X(formerly Twitter) with X’s Premium and Premium Plus subscriptions. Recently, xAI has also explored the option of providing free access to users in some regions with limited access. It is pertinent to note here that, competitors like chatGPT and Gemini are already offering standalone applications for Android and iOS. Grok-2,The latest version of Grok provides users with real-time updates from social media and image generation capabilities, designed to be humourous and engaging in interactions. The present model has limited functionality as compared to its competitors.

Comparison with Competitors-

Google’s Gemini:

Gemini’s strength lies in its multimodel AI capabilities, which seamlessly integrate with text, images, videos, and audio. It has become an integral part of the Google ecosystem as it is embedded into Google services. Leveraging Google’s robust infrastructure, it offers superior performance in search capabilities.

Open AI’s ChatGPT:

ChatGPT excels in natural language processing, designed to provide a wide range of functionalities to its users like content creation, giving code snippets, and interacting with users.

It seamlessly integrates with various platforms, and with its subscription users can access GPT-4 Turbo, which is much faster and more efficient than other models. It also supports multimodal inputs like text and images. The provision of memory retainment helps the model to perform well during interactions.

xAI’s Grok:

Presently integrated with X, it provides real-time insights and updates to the users, humor-infused interactions, and supports text and image inputs. Currently, Grok-2, a beta variant, is largely accessible to X premium subscribers. The latest version has further improved its understanding of long-context understanding trailing in its performance to GPT4 but exceeding the performance of GPT -3.5.

xAI’s Grok has significantly improved its capabilities. Grok-3, the advanced version of Grok is anticipated to be released soon. In one of the interviews Elon Musk, claimed that it would be the most powerful AI model, as it would be trained on a massive 100,000 Nvidia H100 chips, which are crucial for handling large-scale data processing in Large language models (LLMs). This development can help xAI carve its niche as a significant player in today’s competitive AI landscape.
